"Melayu Islam Beraja (M.I.B) translates to ‘language, religion and monarchy’---the backbone to cultural identity in Brunei Darussalam--- making the country unique as a nation"
The first painting is a view of the water village and its community as the artist’s representation of ‘Malay’. The bright coloured lines in the foreground shows the hidden beauty of Kampong Ayer, and the texture of the lines expresses beautiful different experiences living in Brunei. The bright colours are made up of red tones symbolizing the strength of the Brunei culture.
The second painting, with the Jame’Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque rising in the horizon represents ‘Islam’, and lastly; the third painting showcases ‘Monarchy’, represented by Istana Nurul Iman in the background.
The background of all three painting has a pattern of Brunei’s Shield, tying the three paintings together; making the artist’s passion for the nation.
